FIRST EMAILS, FIRST LETTERS, CHRISTMAS CALL, OH MY!!!

I got my first email on December 22, 2014 at 3:57 p.m. to be exact ;) He is the sweetest. I'm so proud of him and his progress!! He is LOVING his companion, Elder Mondragon (cool name, right?!), and his dormmates. If this boy is happy, so am I!!! I got a couple of adorable pictures and one of him and his district. He is district leader!! I'm so proud!

Titled: "Thinking of you (kissy emoji)"
Okay, if this isn't the cutest thing I don't know what is... :)

His awesome district!!

The mountains!! This cute face just gets me :)

He said that his companions basically approve of me and think I'm a keeper ;) Which is awesome!!! Love that he already has support of us in the MTC.

He was able to spend Christmas in the MTC, which is SUPER COOL. He said that a general authority came to visit... Elder Nelson!!! And he mentioned in his call home on Christmas that my Christmas package that I sent was the cherry on top to his day! :) Which, of course, made me smile from ear to ear!! Love that I am able to love him & support him, even from a distance. GOAL ACHIEVED!

Speaking of calls home...... Talk about stressful!!! So I'm a very blessed girl. Ruben's mom and I have a great relationship.. and it's only getting better/stronger since he left. I didn't really have any trouble figuring out if I was going to be apart of the call... Which is such a blessing and I am forever grateful for the relationship that I have with her! He told us that he was going to be calling around 3:15-5:15 MST which is 4:15-6:15 C for us! His mom was spending time with family an hour away... I could not get ahold of her and it was already 5 pm!!! There was an hour and 15 minutes left for him to call, and I heard nothing. NADA. I called, texted, left a voicemail.. pretty much anything anyone with anxiety through the roof would do... Come 5:25, I was beginning to think that I wasn't going to hear from him.. and that devistated me.

FINALLY, at 5:35(ish), his mom texted me that she was on her way home. Talk about the MOST stressful hour or so of my life!!! Long story short, we were able to meet up at just the right time!! Like I said, she was an hour away. When she was exiting the freeway and almost home, he called! In the perfect nick of time. I had been praying and praying, so I know this was God's answer to my prayers... I'm so grateful that it all worked out. And it all happened soooo fast! He only had 30 minutes to talk, and she was already in the car on the phone with him for 8 minutes when she pulled up.. SO naturally, I rush into her car and she parks.. I got to hear his voice for 22 minutes and I'm so thankful. I cannot complain! It was then that I heard about his experience & about how my Christmas package made his day!!! :) He also asked to speak to me for the last 20 seconds.. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to say much to him by myself.. But he assured me that he loves me so much. And that in itself was all I needed to hear. I'm a lucky, lucky girl!!!

My first letter made it's way into my mailbox on December 26th! And let me tell you, it took it's sweet old time! He wrote me a short and sweet letter the second day he was in the MTC. What a sweetheart. And it arrived a week and one day later.. But of course there was so much mail going around for the holidays & the post office is closed Christmas & Sunday.. so technically it only took 6 days.. BUT STILL. Either way, I was on cloud 9 when I received the letter. It may have been short, but it was amazing. <3 He ate green beans and said they weren't bad. I don't think anyone understands how this is a big deal! Seriously! His mom & I always teased him that he would find love for greens and vegetables on his mission! He always said no!! But hey, would you lookie here... Green beans! That's a great start :) Let's hope that when he returns he will eat whatever I want to cook him!! ;) He says they feed him well and it's all balanced, which is great!

I'm so happy to be waiting for him and I'm so grateful for all that I have received so far!!! Cannot wait for more pictures and to hear more about my sweet boy's journey!!! SO SO PROUD.
